Testing & Getting into College

Which Test do you need?

  • Technical College Diploma & Certificate Programs: Accuplacer
    • ​Most technical colleges give you this test on their campus once you have applied
      • ​SAT or ACT can also be used in its place
  • Traditional 4 year College:            ACT or SAT
    • ​East Jackson's school code: 110846
    • Students receiving free/reduced lunch are eligible for 2 fee waivers for ACT and SAT 
      • ​Contact counseling office or Ms. Backus
  • PSAT​ = practice test to get familiar with taking SAT
    • ​PSAT is free for EJ 10th grade students
    • 8th, 9th, and 11th EJ students can pay a small fee to take it during school-wide administration
      • ​Sign up begins in early September
    • 11th graders who score well above average can be eligible for National Merit Scholarship​
  • AP Tests are used to earn college credit in high school
    • ​Each college sets minimum score to earn specific credit hours
